What is an SPF Record? (Simple Guide for Email Senders)

Updated this week

An SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record is a type of DNS record that tells receiving mail servers which systems are allowed to send emails on behalf of your domain.

Think of it as a whitelist for your domain’s senders. When you send an email, the recipient’s server checks your SPF record to confirm the email is legit. If the sending server isn’t listed, the email is more likely to land in spam or be rejected.
